Pegazus Metal: When you started to playing and who has formed the band?
Deivos:
Greetings!!! Deivos formed back in '97 with the aim to play extreme death metal. The founder was a guitar player, Tomasz Kolcon. In '99 there was recorded a first demo "Praised By Generations" (unfortunately with a drum machine). Deivos couldn't play shows back then, as there was no bassist and a drummer. Me and Krzysztof (dr.) joined Deivos in 2000, and 2 previous members left the band, so we remained as a trio. We started to work on the new material, and the result is our newest stuff so far named "Hostile Blood", which was recorded in January '03 - this material marks a big progress in our music, no doubt about it!. In may last year we entered into cooperation with Bulgarian label BUTCHERY MUSIC which officialy released "Hostile Blood".

Pegazus Metal: Introduce us to the members.
Deivos: Tomek, our guitarist formed the band, and used to play in a death metal band Engraved before Deivos. Krzysztof, the drummer, joined in 2000 and played in a black metal group Abusiveness earlier on. I also joined the band in 2000 and I didn't realy played in any serious band before Deivos. In 2001/02 I also played in Abusiveness on bass. Generally speaking, we're all fans of brutal metal and intend to play only extreme death metal in Deivos.

Pegazus Metal: How did you get your band's name? And what is the meaning of "Deivos"?
Deivos:
As i remember, the first vocalist came up with that name. Deivos was the name of the deity praised by ancient Slavs, it means "lord of the sky" or something like that. For us it's important that the name is short, original and sounds good, because we don't pay much attention to the very meaning of the word.

Pegazus Metal: How is the actual metal scenary in Poland?
Deivos: Musically, the scene over here is very strong, with lots of good quality bands, and especially many great death metal groups. I strongly recommend checking out such awesome bands like Azarath, Yattering, Lost Soul, Hate, Devilyn, Behemoth, Decapitated, Parricide and Trauma. I think that Polish scene is definitely one of the best scenes in Europe these days.

Pegazus Metal: And about your influences?
Deivos: When it comes to influences, we're hugely inspired by the whole generation of American bands. Stretching back to the late 80s/early 90s with bands like Morbid Angel, Monstrosity and Suffocation, and also younger acts like Dying Fetus, Cryptopsy or Diabolic, that kind of playing. Our biggest inspiration is definitely Morbid Angel, they're gods of death metal for us.

Pegazus Metal: Have you done some shows out of Poland? There are plans for this?
Deivos:
No, so far we've never played anywhere outside Poland. We actually had proposals Germany and Belarus, but eventually nothing came out of it. Our label is from Bulgaria and they're looking for oportunities for us to play in Europe, so maybe pretty soon we'll play our first gig somewhere abroad, we'll see.

Pegazus Metal: Who writes the lyrics? What are the principal subjects?
Deivos:
I wrote all of them. Generally, the lyrics deal with my inner hatred, aggression and frustration, which accumulate in me and need to be released from time to time - they manifest itself and are released in my musical activity, as normally I'm quite a friendly guy, you know. The important thing is that the lyrics correspond with the music and this type of aesthetical expression very well - I can't sing about damn love affairs when the music's ferocious and unmerciful!!

Pegazus Metal: Could you come to Brazil someday? ;)
Deivos: Yeah, I'd love to come to Brazil and play, but I'm realistic about that, and know that it's just not very possible at this moment. Of course anything can happen, but we're still not a very popular band, and touring on a different continent would be kinda strange for a little known band like Deivos is now. So I think you have to wait at least few years for us.

Pegazus Metal: Now the question that's our favorite:"YOU ARE GOING FOR A EUROPEAN TOUR WHEN SUDDENLY TURBINES OF THE AIRPLANE STOP TO WORK. AND THEN, ALL STARTS TO BURN. THERE'S NOTHING TO DO. IN THE AIRPLANE THERE ARE JUST TWO PARACHUTES. WHO TAKES THE PARACHUTES? AND WHY?"
Deivos:
I take both parachutes (one as a spare), cuz I'm the fastest, baby, haha!!!

Pegazus Metal: Thanks, please leave a message for the people that acess Pegazus Metal in Brazil.
Deivos: Thanks a lot for the interview! And to all the death metal maniacs - keep an eye on Deivos and check out "Hostile Blood" for some good quality brutal playing. Please do contact us, if you have any questions, or would like to get our releases. Best of luck with everything, metal on!!!
