Pegazus Metal: As appeared the Masterplan? Because this name?
Grapow: The name Masterplan is perfect for us, it shows that we have a plan and knollege to create a new musical future for us... It's not a typicall metal name, which i prefer.
Pegazus Metal: You find that the Masterplan will be a turn in its life?
Grapow: I hope so, let's see what the future brings.
Pegazus Metal: Which the main influences of the band (in general)?
Grapow: ??? Our main style is beetween a little Helloween and also other nice influences. It sounds like a new band which is not a copie of our former bands, we worked with.
Pegazus Metal: Its opinion on these guitarists: Zakk Wylde, Jerry Cantrell, Steve Vai, Malmsteen, Slash, Richie Sambora?
Grapow:
Zakk Wylde is one of my favorites, he is aggressive and bluesy. I love his style.
Jerry Cantrell??? Is this teh guy from Alice In Chains??? Very Good.
Steve Vai is incredible, but he is not touching my heart. Too technical.
Slash is cool for blues rock music, but too rough for me.
Richie Sambora is unbelieveable. I love him, he is perfect for Bon Jovi
Y. Malmsteen was cool and i still like him, but i don't listen to him anymore.
I love Michael Schenker, Uli Roth, Brian May, John Sykes, Zakk Wylde these are my heores. All these guys makes a band sounding better. A band is more important than a Guitar Idol.
Pegazus Metal: On that subjects tell the lyrics of the Masterplan?
Grapow: The lyrics of Masterplan are really positive in generell, giving our fans hope and sometimes to think a little more about there life. Half of the lyics are written by Jorn, he other half i wrote it.
Pegazus Metal: What it made to rewrite music "Black Dog" of the Led Zeppelin?
Grapow: We recorded Black Dog of Led Zeppelin, cause we were asked for a partisipation of a Zeppelin Tribute, i love Led Zeppelin but there wasn't a deep meaning behind it, i guess we did a great version of Black Dog!!! Better than the original... HAHA!!! ;)
Pegazus Metal: Which the reason of the exit of the Helloween?
Grapow: Jelousy, greed, ego problems and no friendship at all. God knows the truth!
Pegazus Metal: For me the best phase of the Helloween with Andi Deris was with the album "The Time of the Oath". If existed a machine of the time, you would like to come back at this time?
Grapow: You are right, it was the best time from the band, feeling, friendship and success and so on, but i don't want to go back at that time again, my life is in the best phase now with Masterplan, you will see. I'm a big fan of my own band. I never had that feeling before!!!
Pegazus Metal: If appeared a chance you would come back toward the Helloween?
Grapow: No, going back it impossible. For me it's really over. Helloween was great, i had millions of nice experiences and with the fans, but i have to go further with my new band mates. We are great team with a future, wich is really exiting for me.
Pegazus Metal: You intend to launch its third alone album?
Grapow: I don't plan any solo album right now. Maybe in a couple of years again. First Masterplan.
Pegazus Metal: Speaking in shows, now in 2003 tour of the Masterplan starts. They intend to pass for Brazil? When?
Grapow: We don't know when we gonna go to Brazil, i spoke to our agency and there are possibillities for March, April or May. Let's see!!!
Pegazus Metal: What it makes you to die of fear?
Grapow: heavy sickness or to loose someone i really love.
Pegazus Metal: What more it pleases to it in Brazil?
Grapow: I lke teh people in Brazil a lot, they are warmhearted and open minded, enjoying themself every second! To play in south america is really the best. I have a lot of friends in Brazil.
Pegazus Metal: 5 cds more listening.
Grapow: I Like:
In Flames - Clayman
Rammstein - Mutter
Masterplan ;-)
Avantasia – Part I & II
Red Hot Chilli Peppers – Last 2 album
Pegazus Metal: You invited Michael Kiske to enjoy the band and he say not, but what about Michael Vesceras that workes with you in your solo album? Do you have plans to work with him again?
Grapow: I asked Michael Kiske, before i ask Jorn Lande. Michael wanted to keep his solo career, he doesn't want to do normal metal anymore. I hope he will!! On our album he sang the song heroes, perfect. A nice Helloweenish kind of song!!
Mike Vescera is still my friend, i played on the next solo album MVP. But for Masterplan he is not the right one. He belongs to my solo work, if i do another one, he is still in the boot.
Pegazus Metal: You it said in an interview that what you made in Helloween wasn't very difficult, I'm not a guitarrist but I think there's a difference between what you made in Helloween and what you really know to make, you intends to explore plus your knowledge in this new band?
Grapow: Not quite right, i said it's not too difficult, to replace me. But it's definately not easy to play that stuff...;) But it's possible of course!!! We have many good guitar player on this planet.
Pegazus Metal: Fans of Brazil leaves a message for it’s and the staff of the Pegazus Metal.
Grapow: I like to say thanks a million time, to our brazilian fans and hope i didn't promise too much whan i talk about Masterplan so euphoric, but we kick ass. I love this band, i hope to see you soon on tour!!! Yours, Roland.
